M & J submitted this question:
Where do we start with invitations? Can we get Save the Dates at the same time (something simple)? What goes into the whole ordering process and how do we know what I’ll need. Our wedding isn’t super-formal but we want our first impression to really catch the eye of our friends and family. Where do I start?
Chic Ink Answers:
Hi M & J,
What a great question. It can be very overwhelming when trying to order your wedding invitations. The first thing I would do is ask your friends where they got their invitations and if they were happy with them. If you’re the first in your group of friends to tie the knot, spend some time on the internet looking at samples and finding your style. There are so many great wedding blogs and inspiration websites out there – find some that feature weddings that are similar to your theme.
The process for ordering invitations will vary depending on who you order them from. A custom designer will usually require a deposit to begin work on your personalized proofs. You may end up investing 50% of your total cost prior to printing with the remaining balance due upon delivery. As far as trying to figure out what paper products you’ll need, leave that up to your stationery designer. We’re here to guide you through the process and help you come up with a plan that fits your budget and your special event.
Your stationery designer will be able to help you with everything from save-the-dates to thank you cards and everything in between for your wedding. We’ll make sure that the first impression your guests get of your special day is memorable, whether that’s with a great engagement photo or a fun embellishment!
Do you have a question? Ask anything and we’ll connect with a wedding professional who will give you an answer. Check back each Friday. Better yet, follow our blog for a full-week’s worth of entertaining(ish) content.
